House removals in Harrow

Whole households across HA1 to HA3 — period property on the Hill, Metroland semis, and the larger detached stock towards Harrow Weald and Belmont.

Harrow is really four housing stocks in one borough, and a house move here depends on which of them you are leaving. Two of them are easy. One wants planning. One wants care.

What is included

  • A free survey before anything is priced — video call, or in person where the approach earns it
  • The parking permit or bay suspension where the street is controlled
  • Floor, frame and banister protection along the whole carry
  • Wrapping for upholstery, mattresses and polished surfaces
  • Dismantle and rebuild of what will not pass a door
  • Room-labelled unloading, with materials taken away when we leave

The Metroland semi

The commonest job on the patch and the most predictable. Driveway or front-garden standing, wide roads, room to turn, generous rooms and proper stairs. The access is rarely the issue.

The volume is. These are houses families have held for decades, and the loft conversion, the garage and the shed are all coming — none of which show on a floor plan, and two of which are usually holding more than their owner remembers.

Period property on the Hill

Older houses, older staircases, original floors and doorways cut for a narrower age. Add a gradient and a lane that parked cars have made narrower still, and the survey has to look at the approach as carefully as the contents. Sometimes the answer is a smaller vehicle doing two runs, and it is better to know that in advance than to discover it with a full load on the road.

The larger detached stock

Towards Harrow Weald and Belmont the houses get bigger and the loads with them — more furniture that wants a case rather than a blanket, and more that should be declared so cover is confirmed before the day.

Both addresses, the number of floors, and a sense of what is coming. Flats are on flat removals, smaller loads on man and van, and storage bridges a gap in a chain.

House move questions

What is a Metroland semi move like?

Straightforward, and fuller than expected. Driveway access, wide roads, generous rooms — and a loft, a garage and a shed that between them frequently hold as much as a room.

Is period property different?

Yes. Older staircases, original floors, narrower doorways and, on the Hill, an approach that may not take a large vehicle. Protection goes on before anything moves.

Why measure rather than count bedrooms?

Because two identical semis on the same road can be half a vehicle apart once the loft and garage are counted. A bedroom count describes a house, not a load.

Do you take furniture apart?

Beds, wardrobes and tables that will not pass a door. They go back together in the right room at the far end.

Can it be done in a day?

Locally, almost always. We would rather tell you at survey than find out at six in the evening.
