01 Is parking difficult in Harrow?
Less than in inner London. Most of the Metroland stock has a driveway or a front garden that became one, and the suburban roads are wide. The town centre, the roads around the station and parts of Wealdstone are controlled, and there we arrange the permit.
02 What is the housing like?
Four distinct kinds. Period property on and around the Hill, interwar Metroland semis through most of HA1 and HA2, Victorian terraces near the town centre and Wealdstone, and flats — mansion blocks, conversions and newer apartments — around the stations.
03 Are the Hill lanes a problem?
They need thinking about. Narrow approaches, a gradient, on-street parking on both sides in places, and a few addresses where a large vehicle simply will not pass. We look before we commit one.
04 Do the volumes catch people out?
Regularly. A Metroland semi with a loft conversion, a garage and a shed holds far more than its bedroom count suggests, and all three are coming.
05 Is there another Harrow firm on this network?
Yes — harrowremovals.uk. Same town, different crews, different approach. We would rather say so plainly than let you discover it from a coincidence.
06 How do you work out a price?
Measured volume, access at both ends, how much packing you want, and distance. Not urgency, not the season, and not what someone else quoted.
07 Does a survey cost anything?
No, and it carries no obligation. A video call covers most Harrow addresses; the Hill lanes, mansion flats and anything with a difficult approach are worth an in-person look.
08 Do you move period houses on the Hill?
Yes, and carefully. Older staircases, original floors and narrow doorways want protection fitted before anything moves rather than improvised around.
09 Will my things be insured?
Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we confirm in writing what applies.
10 Do you pack?
Full, part, or fragile-only. Most households do the books and clothes and leave us the kitchen, the glass and the pictures. Materials go when we go.
11 Do you do first-home moves?
A good share of our work. Smaller loads, first-time buyers, and frequently a handover time somebody else has fixed. Man and van often suits better and we will say so.
12 Can you store things between places?
Containerised storage: wrapped, listed on an inventory and racked indoors, collected as part of the move.
13 Do you move pianos?
Uprights routinely. Grands are assessed first, and off the Hill down a narrow lane we would rather bring in a piano specialist than improvise.
14 What if completion slips?
The load stays on the vehicle or goes into store overnight rather than onto a driveway. We tell you what that means plainly rather than sending a surprise invoice.
15 Do you cover Pinner, Northwood or Edgware?
The edges. Northwood and Edgware have their own coverage on our network and we do not poach them. For a genuinely London-wide move our pan-London sister sites are the better fit.
16 Does the Metropolitan line matter to a move?
Only indirectly. Roads around the stations are busier at commuter times and parking near them is tighter, which is a reason to pick the loading window at survey.
17 How far ahead should I book?
As soon as your date exists, even provisionally. Fridays and month-ends go first.
18 Do you do office moves?
Small commercial — units around Wealdstone, offices and practices in the town centre. Out of hours usually suits everyone.
19 Who handles the customs paperwork on a European move?
We do, built from the survey inventory. A household move to the EU needs a proper packing list and the destination country's transfer-of-residence process, and each of the four differs.
20 Can you collect from two addresses?
Yes — two households merging, or a house plus a storage unit emptied on the way. Mention both so the route is costed from the start.
